Would you like to use ocean observing data in your classroom but aren't sure how to get started? Or gain more background knowledge on a subject such as remote sensing in a reader friendly format? We have developed tutorials and manuals to help you learn new information as well as provide useful instructions about how to download buoy and satellite data on either the GoMOOS website or the Coastal Observing Center’s web portal WebCOAST.

Eyes in the Skies: Remote Sensing Primer

This animated primer explores the concepts of remote sensing and how multispectral images derived, interpreted and displayed.

Remote Sensing Tutorial and Activities

This hands-on tutorial for teachers, scientist and resource managers explores how to access and work with remote sensing data using ImageJ. The activities range from animating monthly images of chlorophyll to calibrating digital satellite data.

Buoy Graphing Tutorial

This tutorial contains step by step instructions on how to download and graph ocean observation buoy data using the GoMOOS website.

These two slide presentations were developed in the early 1990's but still have a lot of valuable information about the technology and applications of satellite imagery.
